ViSalus Breakfast Shake
As I spoke about in my post yesterday, the summer is over as school starts tomorrow! We have been getting prepared not just for Aiden, but also because classes start back up for me as well. I am finally in my last semester to get my business degree! YAY!
As I mentioned previously, prior to ViSalus I knew very little about health and nutrition. I didn’t really understand that both my son and I are very sugar sensitive. ViSalus has been the catalyst that has set me on the path to strive for better daily health. Even Aiden understands that we, as a family, are trying to replace bad habits with new healthy habits.
Yesterday, I allowed Aiden to have a small soda with lunch. I was reminded, once again, how this child reacts to the sugar in soda. We went shopping afterwards and he just didn’t act like the good little boy I raised. He wasn’t horrible, he just had to be reminded many times to stop being so rambunctious. So after this little reminder, I made a decision about how his mornings should start out this year.
ViSalus Breakfast Shake
Let me preface-Aiden is a very bright boy, but he also tends to think he knows everything. Last year, he had trouble rushing ahead to work on an assignment instead of listening to instructions before starting. He was on the A/B honor roll most 6-weeks, and he did make all A honor roll a couple of times. He is going into the second grade and is very determined to make all As this year. I decided to have a conversation with Aiden about breakfast. I reminded him that he has a goal of making straight As this year and that breakfast was an important part of his daily health and being able to focus. We agreed that sugary cereal, honey buns, or anything else sugary is totally out this year if he wants to perform at his best. Our plan is for him to have 1 (1/2 serving) Visalus Vi-Shape shake or fruit and a piece of whole-grain toast for breakfast each morning. We talked about how this would give him optimal nutrition, help him stay full and also focused.
I will probably never be one of those people that goes totally vegetarian, or gluten-free, dairy-free, zero processed sugar, etc. For instance, I will probably let Aiden have cinnamon&sugar on his toast once a week. However, it is important to me that we learn to be conscious of what we are putting into our bodies and how much. I’m so thankful for ViSalus and what I’ve learned because I started using ViSalus products.
As for me, I will start out every morning with a hand-shaken ViSalus shake. It’s quick and easy and doesn’t make me too full before my morning workout. My favorite is about 8 ounces of Almond milk, 2 scoops of ViSalus Vi-Shape, and a Visalus Banana Energy Charge Health Flavor packet. (I read an article recently about bananas being a great natural energy source.) I’ll take my Vi-pak vitamins, and then I’ll fill my water bottle with some water and a
as I run out the door to drop Aiden at school and head to the gym.
I’m excited to get this new school year going for Aiden and myself. We are better prepared with all of the knowledge we’ve learned and our convenient ViSalus products! Look for my next post, about our busy day, and preparing our meals for the first week of school!
